What’s Your Winter Windshield Wiper Solution?

29th Sep 2014

There are some pretty creative winter solutions out there to keep your windshield wipers working well. Some make sense, and some are just silly, such as putting your sock over your wiper blade when you are parked. That sounds like a waste of a good sock! When it comes to seeing clearly this winter, skip the other options and install a pair of Everblades Heated Windshield Wipers. And here’s some reasons why Everblades is the best winter windshield wiper solution:

Winter Windshield Wiper Solution #1

One of the most common winter wiper solutions is maneuvering your wiper blades when parked. To do this, you pull your wiper straight up off of the windshield and leave it in a standing position overnight. This prevents the wiper blades from freezing to the windshield. Then, when you are ready to go, you wipe off the accumulated snow, and put the wiper blades back down into their working position.

CONS: This is actually pretty effective to keep your wiper blades from freezing to your windshield, which can be bad for both components. However, this does nothing for the snow and ice that will build up while you are driving! And some experts say that this wears out your wiper arms faster. With Everblades Heated Windshield Wipers, you don’t have to remember to stand your windshield wipers up every night, and you won’t have ice and snow buildup on the road.

Winter Windshield Wiper Solution #2

Thinking ahead, and starting your vehicle 15 minutes in advance, will defrost your windshield so that your wipers can work properly. By relying on the defroster to melt the ice and snow off of your windshield, and then banging your wiper blades to get rid of the ice, you should be ready to go, right? Wrong!

CONS: Although warming your vehicle up before driving is always a good idea, this isn’t really a windshield wiper solution. Banging your windshield wipers to knock off the ice can be hard on the wiper blades, and bad for your windshield. Frozen glass is more likely to crack or chip, and besides, you will have to continue to pull over to repeat this motion throughout your drive. With Everblades, you don’t EVER have to bang your windshield wipers, or play wiper tag, or stand in the cold to clear your wiper blades. They are built to fight the winter elements, and to hold up under tough conditions! (Remember, you still have to clear your windshield of ice and snow buildup before you start operating. Heated wipers are not windshield defrosters, nor are they brooms!)

Winter Windshield Wiper Solution #3

Last spring, there was a lot of talk about a vibrating windshield wiper called the Wiper Assist. This is a self-slapping windshield wiper that would smack the ice off of itself. It’s hard to discuss how exactly this works, or the effectiveness, as the product hasn’t yet hit the market. That said, we can predict some cons. There have been other similar products, the wiper slapper and wiper shakers, but they haven’t been proven to be a good solution to the problem.

CONS: To repeat from #2, how good can beating your windshield wipers against your windshield be for the glass? And how long can these wiper blades be expected to last with that kind of violent motion? The concept is interesting, but we say play it safe and stick to Everblades Heated Windshield Wipers – no slapping or smacking needed!

Winter Windshield Wiper Solution #4

Da Boot – a protective rubber book over your windshield wiper that prevents snow and ice from clogging the wiper and wiper arm. This product covers the gap between the wiper blade and the wiper arm to ensure a smooth glide. There are many different boot products out there, including some that require you to slide on an unattached ‘boot’ when parking and take it back off before driving.

CONS: The boot is not made to be used all year. It cracks in the summer under the intense heat of the sun, and so these windshield wipers must be changed in between seasons. And truck drivers claim that this

The very popular heated frame option on Everblades provides an additional heating element that helps keep the blade superstructure from icing up. Our advanced silicone rubber blades withstand any environment, giving you a more durable windshield wiper you can trust!

Winter Windshield Wiper Solution #5

#5 would be the sock over your wiper blades when you park for the night. Is this really a solution you want to consider? Or how about just putting aside the more troublesome and inconvenient ‘solutions’ and ordering your Everblades Heated Windshield Wipers today?
