Heated Wiper Blades On Storm Chasing Vehicle

Posted by Scott McPartland on 23rd Mar 2023

I've been an extreme weather photographer for almost 30 years now, and one of the weather events I document are winter storms and blizzards. I chase in my 2013 Nissan Xterra Pro-4X and always found it incredibly frustrating when my wiper blades would get coated in ice during snow storm intercepts. On a hunch that heated wiper blades did in fact exist, I did a quick search in early 2022 and sure enough, came across everblades. My storm chase partner Dave is an electrical engineer and installed them in the fall. We've had the chance to use them a few times already and wow they are amazing! I've had ZERO issues with ice building up on the blades. Definitely recommend these! Need to purchase some spare blades ASAP just so I have them on hand!

    Heated blades

The JL Wrangler has dedicated wiring and switches for accessories, so wiring was relatively easy. Didn’t need to use the included switch. Now I’m waiting for some snow!

These are so good they should be a factory option

Posted by Eric LaPLante on 17th Jan 2022

Frankly, I can’t image why these aren’t a factory option on new vehicles and trucks. I have a 2017 Peterbilt 579 semi truck. The wipers don’t park out of the wind line, so in the winter when it’s snowing/raining the wipers become useless pretty quickly… but not anymore! These heated wipers work amazing. Just the right amount of heat and it comes on pretty fast. Plus they’re silicone so I’ll probably never have to replace them. I highly recommend these for your vehicle if you live in cold winter weather climates.
The downside: ummm…. I mounted the switch in the middle of the dash on a blank section of gauges (looks nicer there) so I ended up having to splice in extra wires to make it reach. But honestly that’s it. Maybe because they’re silicone these “squeak” a teeny tiny bit more than a rubber blade. But it’s really not noticeable unless your “looking” for a fault. I personally consider it a trade off that’s a 100% worth it. Buy them. If you are worried you don’t know how to install them, any mechanic can install them in under an hour. Again, best thing I’ve installed on my truck probably ever.

heated whippers are easy to install

Posted by tim chambers on 5th Jan 2022

We put a set on our dump truck, and they worked so well we bought a set for our plowing pick-up.
It's nice not having to get out of the truck every half hour to clean the ice off the whippers. It saves time and is safer for the driver.

The hardest part of this installation, was changing the oem subaru clip to the new wipers.i have a switch pro system in my Crosstrek. So I didn't need to run any wires through the firewall. It was a quick and simple install. I love these things
